Marbelling

As it is science week, Ms Olivia O’Shea’s 4th class looked at integrating science and art. They looked at a science/art experiment on 11th November where we looked at the surface tension of water. Water is made up of millions of water molecules. These tiny molecules want to be close together and they create a surface tension when they meet the air. Surface tension keeps the paint from sinking (mostly). We used acrylic paints dropped into water to create marbelling affect. We placed the page into the tub of water mixed with paint let it there for 10 to 15 seconds and then lifted it out. See how our marbelling turned out.
