Windmill Tour
Mrs O’Sullivan’s Junior Infants had their first school tour on Friday 7th October 2022 to the windmill. Our guide Dónal was simply outstanding and hilarious. He has us all laughing throughout the tour. The children learned about wind powered ships leaving from Blennerville long ago, they milled flour themselves, getting a little on the uniforms which was fun too and we saw the train sets display before we left. Some children pulled the rope brake on the blades and stopped the windmill spinning with their strength. It was a really informative and fun day and we can’t thank Dónal and his windmill crew enough for having us. An excellent tour for children and adults alike.
Ms Sarah Dinan’s Senior Infants had a wonderful trip to Blennerville Windmill during October as well. They got to explore the windmill, getting to see all the inner workings of a windmill by climbing to the very tip top!!! They got to make flour just like the Little Red Hen did, which is their current Aistear theme. As well as the windmill they watched a video on what Blennerville looked like in the past, saw a model Jeanie Johnson and the model railway network. Some were even amazed they could see the big boats in Fenit. A very exciting time on a blustery Wednesday. Thank you to Donal and Louise who were fantastic tour guides.
