Basketball Day

This was the first outing in 2023 for our school basketball teams who competed in the Mounthawk Primary School Blitz on 25th February. They played very well with games vs Moyderwell, Holy Family, Abbeydorney and Kilflynn. Thanks to coaches Skinny and Jacko along with Ms O’Shea and Ms. Dinan who coordinate our basketball coaching. 👏

Michael Smith Author

4th class got to meet the author of “Tom Crean Iceman” Michael Smith in the library on 22nd February 2023. They listened to other unheard stories about Tom Crean and his adventures and see some photos we hadn't seen before. The children got to ask lots of questions about Tom Crean and of Michael himself. Thanks so much to Michael for answering all out questions. Thanks to Ms O’Shea for organising this.

Cinema Nights

Cinema nights are back thanks to our Parents' Association. 1st, 2nd, 3rd classes watched a movie in the hall on Friday 27th Janaury while 6th watched a movie in the windmill, thanks to Donal Coppinger who accomodated us. There will be move movie nights for 4th and 5th on Friday 3rd February and for infants on 10th February, all from 7-9pm. Thanks to all the parents who volunteer for this.

SAM'S VISIT

On 26th January we were visited by the Sam Maguire cup! (Or the “Kerry” cup as it was overheard being called). It was accompanied by players David Moran, Joe O Connor, Stefan Okunbor and Greg Horan. David Moran said if we gave a loud enough cheer that we might get off homework and honestly the roof almost lifted with roars! Mr O’ Connell acknowledged the stellar career David Moran had for the past 15 years in the Kerry jersey and we wished him well in his retirement.
The players addressed the entire school in the hall and later, each class got to pose for photos. They all autographed a sheet which was copied and given to everyone going home. Thanks so much to the players for their time.
Thanks to Joe Costello of St. Pat’s who organised this for us and sincere thanks to Joe for presenting the school with a framed photo of this winning Kerry team.
