Save the Bees Campaign

We need your help again everyone! We are taking part in the Save the Bees Campaign in conjunction with SuperValu stores. They have sent us this gigantic wall chart which some Junior Infants had fun holding up in this picture and we need your help to fill it with tokens which you can get when you shop in any Supervalu shop. We have lesson plans for classes and posters of bees. One third of our food is pollinated by bees and sadly30% of our Irish bees are in danger of becoming extinct and we want to stop this happening because bees are really important in our ecosystem for pollination of all plants and flowers. We can be in with a chance of winning or sharing in €50,000 if we can get this chart completed before 14th May 2020. Please help us get from 1 to 300 so we can enter this terrific competition. Thanks everyone!

Carpooling Thanks

Thanks to everyone who carpooled during February 2020 and are continuing to do so. You all helped with our successfull entry to the Big Travel Challenge in the Greenschools competition. When the weather improves, we hope to scoot, cycle and walk to school too.

Planting

Mrs Liz O’Connor’s class planted Nasturtiums during February. It’s certainly better weather for indoor planting these days. Have a scroll through the pictures here of the children planting and you will see what they will look like in a few weeks hopefully.

Pancake Tuesday

Thank you so much to our wonderful Parent Association and all who provided us with pancakes on Pancake Tuesday 25th February 2020. Children were treated to pancakes with their choice of toppings. Click here for photos.

Paddy Stack

Thank you so much to Paddy Stack of @kerryastronomyclub on Facebook who visited us on 19th February 2020 and spoke to children from 1st to 6th classes. He had a really interesting slide show about the planets, stars and moons and constellations and all children were given a map of the February sky to take home so they can go in search of these constellations.

Thanks to Kerry Museum for sponsoring 4 family passes which we presented to the 4 best questions today who were from Tara, Matea, Jake and Jamie. Thanks to parent Michelle Culloo for introducing Paddy to us and for getting us the lovely prizes too.

For more information please visit @kerryastronomyclub on Facebook who welcome new members and meet monthly for stargazing and much more.
