Bridges

This week, Ms Doyle’s 1st class have been learning all about bridges and on Thursday they went on a walk to Blennerville Bridge to explore how it was built, what type of bridge it is, what materials were used to build it and what function it now provides for the community. They then drew it freehand and wrote up the all the information they learned about it.

Tie Day Friday

On 23rd April, we celebrated Tie Day Friday in conjunction with Kerry Mental Health. All children wore a tie to school.

Mini Beast Hunt

Junior Infants went on a Mini-beast hunt on Thursday 22nd April finding lots of creepy crawlies around the school, especially in our Fairy Garden.

Spring Clean

Our Spring clean began in earnest and we hope to have much rubbish collected by Friday 30th April, when Higgin's Waste has offered to take this rubbish from us free of charge. Thanks to John Higgins for this! Well done to all the children for wearing their High Viz and for collecting the rubbish and cleaning up Blennerville.

Space Aistear

This April Senior Infants explored the Space theme in Ms Dinan’s infant classroom. There was plenty to discover, with lots of fun and learning at every station. Children acted out a rocket launch at the home corner, with a spaceship they painted themselves and a backdrop they took lots of research and planning to paint also. They made jig-saws of planets, used an ipad to explore a 3D sun and planets, created a window picture and wrote sentences about what they saw. They also built rockets using magnetic shapes. A final station explored a planet surface with various rocks, stars and aliens. They used special sand for this that the class made in a science lesson the previous week to make a type of sand.
