Senior Infant Shop

Senior Infant shop:
The Senior Infants shop was very busy this month. For sale there were bubbles, sweets, custom made jewellery and also skipping ropes and cushions for hire. Things were great value ranging from 1c to 10c and children had a choice of how they spent their coins with a maximum of 2 items being allowed each. There was a pre-order option on the homemade jewellery!
The following week, the Senior Infants had iPads, headphones, Bluebots and accessories, jigsaws and jewellery for teddy bears.
Unsurprisingly, the iPads were sold out but the shop has promised that the shelves will be restocked the very next day. The children logged on to their Seesaw and looked back on all the things they have done in Senior Infants. The boys had lots of fun with the Bluebots designing mazes and a McDonald’s Drive Thru! Well done to Ms Dinan on this great idea for teaching money concepts.

Class of 2021

6th Class at Jamie Knox's Waterworld on 21st June 2021 for one last splash!

6th class on their last day 25/6/21 having a pizza party and delicious chocolate biscuit cake in their classroom.

Here are some photos from our Graduation ceremony for our class of 2021. The ceremony was filmed and the link has been shared with those families. Thanks so much to Ms Debbie Moriarty, Mr O’Connell, Fr Vitalis, Ms O’Connor, Mrs Moynihan, Noreen, the PA, Anne Marie Scott and all teachers and staff (present and past!) who spent time with this class. Thanks to the parents for choosing our school and to the children who were a credit to their parents throughout their studies at Blennerville school.

Ms Debbie Moriarty’s 6th class had an action packed last day in primary school on 25th June 2021. They signed t-shirts in the classroom, had a capacity water relay in the basketball court, a trip to St. Pats, penalties against Paudie, cupcakes baked by Keelin and a pizza party in the classroom. Thanks to Ms Moriarty and Ms O’Connor for organising so much for this class and giving them the send off they deserve. 6th class you will be hugely missed in the school. We wish you all every happiness in your new schools in September and good health. Good luck to you all!

Tigger

Sincere thanks to Tigger AKA Brian O'Dowd who took our older classes for rugby sever days during June. Your time and patience is hugely appreciated Tigger! Tigger trains with Tralee Rugby club, Munster branch.

Circus Come to Town

Thanks to Stephen McGinley, professional circus performer and teacher who was such fun during June 2021 with all classes in the hall. It was just fabulous to see children trying their hands at tricks using balance and co-ordination. Thank you Stephen!

Heritage Project

News Just In! 25/6/2021! We were thrilled to receive recognition today for tied for 2nd place in the Explore Your Local Heritage Awards 2021. Here are representatives from the 3 classes 4th, 5th and 6th who took part in this rewarding project. Well done to all children and teachers involved.

Ms Olivia O’Shea’s 4th class took part in the school heritage project with 5th and 6th class. They compiled questionnaires to find out more information about the Blennerville windmill and interviewed either their parents or grandparents. We made our own windmills using recycled materials too. We went on a local trail looking at the windmill, steam train and blennerville Bridge. Mr. Mike O'connor also came in and shared some of his local knowledge on the windmill. We learned so much about our local area, the history of the windmill and really enjoyed taking part in this history project. We were delighted to hear during June that our school came joint second in this Heritage Project competition!
